How to care for your Marble, Onyx and Solid Surface

Any service or maintenance other than described below should be performed by a qualified service representative.

To maintain the "like new" look of  your Marble, Onyx or Solid Surface we recommend the following easy care procedures:
  • never use abrasive cleaners such as Ajax, Comet or even Soft Scrub.
  • use common household, non-abrasive cleaners for most cleaning jobs such as:
Lysol Basin, tub & tile cleaner, Glass Plus, Simple Green, Mr. Clean, Top Job, or
a mild dish washing detergent such as Ivory liquid.  Follow the manufactures'
directions and precautions.  Rinse well and dry with a clean cloth.
  • Do not use products such as acetone (nail polish remover), nail polish, dry cleaning
solution, lacquer thinners, gasoline, pine oil, wintergreen, etc.
  • Use (rubbing) alcohol to clean grease, oil, paint or ink. Dry with a clean soft cloth.
  • Avoid using razor blades, putty knives, or other metal instruments that might scratch
the surface.  Small scratches can be removed by applying a thin coat of automotive
paste was (turtle wax) and buffing lightly with a clean cloth.  For deeper scratches, sand
the surface lightly, in a circular motion with 600 grit "wet or dry" sand paper, rub out with
fine buffing compound, and apply a coat of wax.

How To Care for  your whirlpool system
  • About twice a month you should flush the whirlpool system out by filling the tub with water, circulating the jets, and using soda or another gentle product to clean the jets.  Make sure that you adjust your jets in a clockwise motion to prevent induction of air into the system.  You should begin your cleaning process by filling the bathtub with warm water to about two inches above the jets, then add about two teaspoons of powder dish washing detergent along with 20 ounces of bleach to thoroughly clean the water, be sure to turn the jets on and run for about 10 minutes for maximum cleaning.  After this process has been completed, turn off the jets and drain all the water from the tub.  You can then rinse the surface of your whirlpool tub with a mild cleaner and dry the entire area with a soft cloth.
  • You will want to use a sponge or other soft-surfaced cleaning tool to swab around the inside of your jets to remove any debris or film that might be left behind.  Do not use any scented oils, bubble bath or other products; this can leave build-up that will interrupt the flow of the jets.
